June is Torture Awareness Month, and The National Religious Coalition against Torture is providing resources and activities to honor survivors of torture, ensure that the truth about the U.S. torture program is made public, and begin the restoration of human dignity for all.
NRCAT encourages folks to make plans for their local church, synagogue, mosque, temple, or faith communities to join with people of faith throughout the world in commemorating Torture Awareness Month. Download the Torture Awareness Month toolkit to assist you and your congregation in planning educational, advocacy and worship events.
Also, check out their activity ideas and the many already planned activities around the country. So far, congregations and faith groups are planning over 78 screenings of “No Doubt, It Was Torture,” and at least 150 educational and/or public witness events. Let us know what you will be doing and we will add your event to a list on our website where we can demonstrate the broad support within the faith community for “Exposing the Truth of U.S. Torture: Restoring Human Dignity.”
Finally, sign a petition demanding that President Obama take personal responsibility for ensuring that the Senate Intelligence Committee report on CIA torture is made public. "Let Our Torture Report Go!"
